The BEST of THE FEST!
A Monthly Celebration of uplifting films!

BEST of THE FEST gives filmmakers a chance to be screened on additional dates and times. BEST of THE FEST is a monthly celebration of films selected by our judges for the Annual Great Wonders Uplift Film Fest. Every month, throughout the year, Great Wonders Productions will host screenings of films selected by our Uplift Film Fest jury. Whenever possible, filmmakers attend these screenings in person to introduce their films and host q&a sessions. At the least, the filmmaker will send us a video introduction to that month's selection. This monthly cinematic arts event is meant to support, showcase and celebrate the awesome filmmaking talent of independent cinematic storytellers from the country . When you buy tickets to BEST of THE FEST, you are supporting Great Wonders Productions and our efforts to advance inspirational filmmaking in our Four-State area and beyond.

BEST of THE FEST | APRIL 2026
This month we are showing: The Redemption of Mary Louisa McBroom (2025)
The Redemption of Mary Louisa McBroom is a dramatic documentary, based on a true story. It’s a story of breaking free from generational abuse & childhood trauma. It spans four generations of one family and centers on an art exhibit called, Family Secrets. Mary Louisa McBroom was the grandmother of artist, Steve Head. Steve never knew her as she committed suicide in 1943 at the Oklahoma State Hospital for the Insane, (in Norman, OK), after being a patient there for 9 long years. Her story was never spoken of until, while doing his genealogy, Steve was able to not only learn about her, but obtain the actual medical records of her stay there. Mary was the mother of Steve's father, Alvie. Mary's father was an alcoholic, as was her father-in-law, Phelix. This documentary connects the links in the chain of many generations of abuse and childhood trauma. The film also documents the struggle to break those chains and is intended to offer hope to others.
